CNE: Risks in transport and distribution

The packaging used for transport, either in the “parcel” system or in unified loads, such as pallets or dedicated boxes, must withstand the effects of transport. Vibrations, shocks, impacts, compressions and others, are some of the effects/risks that all types of packaging suffer during the transport circuit.

The exponential increase in online sales, as well as the environmental concern in reducing the amount of packaging, requires an increasing knowledge of the entire distribution chain. Ensuring that the packaging has the necessary and sufficient resistance to guarantee the integrity of the product until it reaches the customer’s hand is one of the main objectives of any supplier. Transport simulation tests are carried out not only to assess the effects of transport on the product, but also to check the suitability of the packaging design in the interaction between the packaging and the product during the entire logistics process.

Knowing the risks of transport and their interaction in the relationship between product and packaging, as well as the existing normative documents, are some of the points to be highlighted.
