K\u00f6rber Supply Chain has announced the purchase of Siemens Logistics’ global mail and parcel business<\/strong>. This business area of the company is a leader in cutting-edge parcel processing technology<\/strong>, with advanced software and automated<\/strong> mail and parcel processing solutions<\/strong>, and with its purchase, K\u00f6rber will benefit from these state-of-the-art products to complement its offering.<\/p>\n

K\u00f6rber explains in a statement that the rise of e-commerce<\/strong> and changing consumer habits continues to drive automation and digitalisation throughout the supply chain<\/strong>, especially in parcel processing. As the volume of parcels increases, so does the need to respond to this growth in orders, and in ever shorter times. “Siemens Logistics’ mail and parcel business responds with a range of products and solutions to support hubs and end-to-end network processes,” the company argues.<\/p>\n

This market is expected to grow by double digits annually<\/strong> for the next few years, and K\u00f6rber believes that this area of the technology company’s business “is ideally positioned to benefit from global trends and current market growth, together with K\u00f6rber’s strong supply chain business”.<\/p>\n

K\u00f6rber’s business area already includes customised and integrated solutions across the entire chain.<\/strong> With the acquisition, it will now offer these industry-leading solutions and thus create new partnership and optimisation opportunities for existing customers.<\/strong> At the same time, it argues that Siemens Logistics’ own mail and parcel business will also benefit from K\u00f6rber’s global capabilities as well as its end-to-end supply chain solutions.<\/p>\n

Stephan Seifert, CEO of the K\u00f6rber Group, comments, “Siemens Logistics, as a key player in the global express, parcel and e-commerce market, is very well positioned with its global customer base. With Siemens Logistics’ courier and parcel business, we extend and complement our market offering as a leading global partner for the supply chain and e-commerce industry – covering all relevant solutions such as hardware, software, digital and system integration.”<\/p>\n

For Siemens AG, Ralf P. Thomas, the company’s CFO, believes that “the recent outstanding development of Siemens Logistics’ mail and parcel business demonstrates that our concept for our portfolio companies is enabling us to continue to develop businesses and make them fit for the future, even when they are not part of our core business.”<\/p>\n

Dirk Hejnal, CEO K\u00f6rber Business Area Supply Chain, explains that “Siemens Logistics’ mail and parcel business team combines mechanical processes with digital and intelligent automation technology, creating complete, value-creating solutions for leading global logistics players”, and concludes by saying that “Siemens Logistics’ expertise in this area will undoubtedly strengthen our offerings and reinforce our technological leadership”.<\/p>\n
