(NeWLOife) pretende reduzir o elevado impacto ambiental dos \u00f3leos lubrificantes usados e criar um produto de alta qualidade capaz de ser reintroduzido no seu ciclo de vida \u00fatil.<\/em><\/p><div class=\"entry-content\"><p>Um grupo de investigadores da<strong>\u00a0Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra\u00a0<\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uc.pt\/fctuc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.uc.pt\/fctuc\/\">FCTUC<\/a>) est\u00e1 a desenvolver uma tecnologia sustent\u00e1vel para a<strong>\u00a0regenera\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00f3leos lubrificantes usados<\/strong>, atrav\u00e9s de di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO<sub>2<\/sub>) de instala\u00e7\u00f5es industriais.<\/p><p>O projeto\u00a0<strong><em>Regeneration of used lubricant oil by supercritical CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0\u2013 a process towards circular economy and environmental health<\/em>\u00a0(NeWLOife)<\/strong>, um dos vencedores da 4.\u00aa edi\u00e7\u00e3o dos Pr\u00e9mios Semente de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o Cient\u00edfica Interdisciplinar da Universidade de Coimbra, est\u00e1 a ser desenvolvido em parceria com a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sogilub.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sogilub.pt\/\">Sogilub \u2013 Sociedade de Gest\u00e3o Integrada de \u00d3leos Lubrificantes Usados, Lda<\/a>. e\u00a0<strong>pretende reduzir o elevado impacto ambiental dos \u00f3leos\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revistamanutencao.pt\/dossier\/especial-lubrificantes-edicao-no153\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.revistamanutencao.pt\/dossier\/especial-lubrificantes-edicao-no153\/\">lubrificantes<\/a>\u00a0usados e criar um produto de alta qualidade capaz de ser reintroduzido no seu ciclo de vida \u00fatil.<\/strong><\/p><p><em>\u201cOs \u00f3leos lubrificantes usados s\u00e3o altamente poluentes, mas podem ser tamb\u00e9m um recurso, uma vez que s\u00e3o derivados do petr\u00f3leo. Ou seja, se tivermos a possibilidade de regenerar eficazmente aquele que j\u00e1 existe em vez de utilizar \u00f3leo novo, \u00e9, naturalmente, uma mais-valia. Se, adicionalmente, pudermos aproveitar o di\u00f3xido de carbono das ind\u00fastrias para o processo de regenera\u00e7\u00e3o, podemos atingir uma pegada negativa\u201d<\/em>, acredita Cec\u00edlia Santos, investigadora do Departamento de Qu\u00edmica da FCTUC e coordenadora do projeto.<\/p><p>Assim,\u00a0<em>\u201ca ideia \u00e9 limpar os \u00f3leos usados atrav\u00e9s do uso de di\u00f3xido de carbono supercr\u00edtico e reintroduzi-los no ciclo de vida.\u00a0<strong>A utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0como solvente n\u00e3o s\u00f3 tem o potencial de ser uma tecnologia mais limpa e mais econ\u00f3mica, sem produtos secund\u00e1rios, como pode ajudar a capturar di\u00f3xido de carbono de instala\u00e7\u00f5es industriais\u201d<\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0garante a investigadora.\u00a0<\/p><p>Os resultados obtidos s\u00e3o bastante promissores e mostram que esta tecnologia pode trazer diversas vantagens a v\u00e1rios n\u00edveis, mas em particular para o meio ambiente, quando comparada com as j\u00e1 existentes. Neste momento, est\u00e3o ainda a decorrer alguns estudos ao n\u00edvel da composi\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica do \u00f3leo regenerado, mas o passo seguinte \u00e9 a otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o do processo.<\/p><p>De acordo com a Qu\u00edmica, esta tecnologia tem duas particularidades que a diferenciam das restantes:<em>\u201cpode ser autossustentada, o que ter\u00e1 impacto econ\u00f3mico, ao reaproveitar CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0e direcionar os contaminantes dos \u00f3leos para outras ind\u00fastrias; e \u00e9 menos poluente, os processos que existem atualmente utilizam solventes, gerando res\u00edduos ainda mais contaminantes do que o pr\u00f3prio \u00f3leo usado\u201d.<\/em><\/p><p><em>\u201cTemos aqui vantagens claras e estamos no ponto do projeto em que j\u00e1 temos evid\u00eancias de que o processo \u00e9 vi\u00e1vel e tem um bom rendimento. \u00c9 ainda necess\u00e1rio otimizar, melhorando as condi\u00e7\u00f5es experimentais para conseguirmos uma maior quantidade de \u00f3leo e com melhor qualidade\u201d<\/em><em>,<\/em>\u00a0conclui<\/p><p>Futuramente, o objetivo \u00e9 que este projeto tenha um foco mais alargado, nomeadamente em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 aplica\u00e7\u00e3o dos res\u00edduos contaminantes do \u00f3leo e a poss\u00edvel integra\u00e7\u00e3o na ind\u00fastria do
