From sustainability to technology: the future of logistics, packaging and transport in debate at Empack Porto

Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto already has more than 70 confirmed exhibitors and will give voice to the main national and international players in the sector. Technological challenges, efficiency, sustainability and automation in packaging, transport, distribution and logistics are the main topics under discussion at the event.

The largest industry fair in the country opens its doors on 19 and 20 April, at Exponor, and presents an extensive programme of debates and conferences focused on the growth of the sector. Considering that one of the great current adversities of the industry is energy transformation, even due to rising costs, but above all due to sustainability issues, this is one of the central issues of this 7th edition of Empack Porto.

“The energy sector stands out for being very complex, with its own dynamics and in constant evolution. The constant volatility of oil and fuel prices and the dependence on this product always generates many concerns about environmental impacts. Climate change is not just a threat, it is a reality. There is an increasing focus on protecting the environment and finding solutions to it. We want a greener and more sustainable planet. That said, we are looking to address these concerns by featuring exhibitors and speakers who are working towards a more sustainable future,” says Oscar Barranco, Managing Director of Easyfaris Iberia.

With regard to technological advances, the Director also states that “the world has been strongly impacted by the great leap in technology that we have had over the last few years and will continue to be. For us it is something very advantageous, because we see new opportunities to innovate and deliver better solutions, through exhibitors still committed to sustainable products, such as Planet Paper, Fitembal, Gaor TM, Inapa, Storopack, Policarpo, Veolia, Trilla, Internaco and many others “.

These and many other topics will be on the table at Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto. On 19 April, the highlight is the round table with APED – Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies on “Logistics efficiency in retail effectiveness” and the conference of APOL – Portuguese Association of Logistics Operators, which will address the theme “Proactive logistics generating competitiveness”. The following day, it is time to reflect on the “Influence of the Freight Forwarder in the Supply Chain” with APAT – Association of Freight Forwarders of Portugal, the programme also includes a debate on “Risks in transport and distribution”, moderated by CNE (National Packaging Centre).

In addition, the fair presents three Innovations Tours centred on Packaging, Logistics and Sustainability, where participants will be able to learn about the novelties of selected exhibitors with the most innovative products, in guided tours of one hour. Empack Porto expects to surpass last year’s record and receive more than 3200 visitors. Entry to the fair requires registration which can be done HERE.
