El Corte Inglés launches a marketplace to promote Portuguese brands

El Corte Inglés and the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP) have signed a cooperation agreement in the area of online retail that will allow Portuguese companies to market their products on the department store’s marketplace.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Enrique Hidalgo, managing director of El Corte Inglés, and Luís Castro Henriques, president of AICEP. This collaboration stems from the recognition of the quality of Portuguese products and goes hand in hand with the commitment to promote Portuguese exports and favour large and small local suppliers.

Through this partnership, Portuguese companies from different sectors, namely fashion, home and technology, will be able to sell their products on El Corte Inglés’ e-commerce platform.

The main aim is to increase the number of Portuguese companies and products in the retailer’s online supply chain in Portugal and Spain, in line with AICEP’s objective of contributing to the internationalisation of the Portuguese economy, within the scope of the Supplier Network action.

This agreement was signed at a time when El Corte Inglés launched its online marketplace in Portugal, where it aims to promote Portuguese brands, open doors to internationalisation and encourage Portuguese companies to access the marketplace in Spain. Brands such as Luís Onofre, Fátima Lopes and Marta Ponti are already part of the marketplace.
