EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation: the green packaging revolution is unstoppable

The PPWR objectives are:

1. Waste reduction: Achieve a 15% per capita reduction in packaging waste by 2040 compared to 2018 levels.
2. Recyclability: Ensure all packaging is recyclable by 2030, in adherence to specific design-for-recycling criteria.
3. Recycled content: Mandate minimum thresholds of post-consumer recycled material in plastic packaging, with targets escalating between 2030 and 2040.
4. Reuse and refill: Implement mandatory reuse and refill targets for various sectors, including beverages and retail, to decrease reliance on single-use packaging.
