Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto postpone their celebration until May 2022

The fair will take place at Exponor on 26 and 27 May

Porto, 23 February 2021: Easyfairs, organiser of Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto, announced today that the next edition, scheduled for May 2021, will be postponed until spring 2022. This difficult decision has been made due to the uncertainties surrounding the development of the pandemic, the ongoing state of emergency and restrictions in place on the Iberian Peninsula, and the early stages of vaccine implementation. To continue celebrating innovation, supporting learning and maintaining the sharing of best practices throughout the supply chain, Easyfairs Iberia has launched a series of Digital Technology Congresses.

The main aim of Easyfairs Iberia is to bring together the packaging and logistics community at Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto and support their resurgence after a challenging year. However, after consultation with the industries, their exhibitors and other key stakeholders, and given the unpredictable, inevitable, unprecedented and global reach of the Coronavirus pandemic, together with the ongoing Force Majeure situation, it is clearly necessary to postpone the event to Spring 2022.

On 26 and 27 May 2022, Empack and Logistics & Automation will return to the city of Porto to unveil the latest in technology, machinery and materials from the sector’s leading national and international brands, all designed to optimise packaging, logistics and automation processes in the supply chain and distribution channels.

Oscar Barranco, Divisional Director of Easyfairs Iberia, commented: “I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the Portuguese industry for its continued support and commitment throughout this challenging year. We realise how crucial it is for all of us involved in the packaging, logistics and automation sectors to return to face-to-face business meetings. The new dates in May 2022 will allow us to look to the future with the prospect of being able to hold an event that is full of networking and business opportunities, and that meets the usual high standards for which we are known.”

Empack and Logistics & Automation has also launched a series of digital initiatives that allow industry professionals to keep in touch, share experiences and challenges and discover innovations. Barranco emphasised that “through our social channels, monthly content and online offers, the packaging, logistics and automation communities have been, and will continue to be, united. What’s more, I’m pleased to announce that on 24 February we’ll be organising the first Digital Technology Congress: ¿Evolución o revolución? La Automatización Inteligente, which will bring together professionals from the world of automation and robotics with speakers specialising in the field”.

The agenda includes specialised content produced by leaders in the sector such as ABB, Kuka, Ingenersun, HP 3D Printing, CCTV Center, the Spanish Robotics Association and Rafael Tamames, an expert in digitalisation and entrepreneurship and author of the book: ¿Qué robot se ha llevado mi queso? and Coordinator of the Spanish Government’s General Subdirectorate for AI and Digital Technology. Registration is free and available on the Empack and Logistics & Automation Porto websites.
