      Ahorro Certificado

    9. Champignon-based Risotto and Kashotto in fully recyclable Schur®Star CPP Bags

Champignon-based Risotto and Kashotto in fully recyclable Schur®Star CPP Bags

To enable the exquisite products to stand out at POS, Jantex looked for an extraordinary packaging: a bag with a stunning design, of a construction that makes it stand prominently on the supermarket shelves and present the product the best possible way. Barrier properties were required to protect the delicate aroma of the exquisite mushrooms. Finally, the bag had to function as a container in the household, also once half emptied. All requirements were met by the Schur®Star Stand-up Bag – produced of a CPP film and decorated with a charming design emphasizing the product itself. To match the healthy profile a fully recyclable material was the obvious choice, and the bags were thus produced of a CPP film. Although the glossy and stiff appearance is achieved through the material, it is a single-substrate which does not require separation and can be recovered via a recycling structure. The film offers excellent printability and mechanical strength in the packing process.

    10. Coding on boxes: labeling or direct marking?

Coding on boxes: labeling or direct marking?

Since 2022 the label market has been volatile, so we should expect continued price increases as supply is restricted and demand for labels continues to increase. Raw material shortages and a lack of capacity for pressure-sensitive label materials have impacted the labeling industry, causing order delays, affecting the entire product supply chain. The supply and demand for labels are not in balance. Suppliers have raised material costs several times in the past 20 months, and many of them are giving long lead times to their customers. One of the big takeaways when comparing inkjet coders to labeling or thermal transfer machines is cost. Considering the cost of the label and thermal transfer ribbons, inkjet printing is typically one-tenth the cost of a label. Labor cost is also a factor to consider when deciding between labeling or inkjet printing. Additionally, label applicators typically experience more downtime than inkjet printers. When the labeler runs out of labels or tapes, the production line must stop to restock. If a large amount of product needs to go out, this may require multiple stops throughout the day. Inkjet printers use ink cartridges. When an ink cartridge runs out, the cartridge can be changed on the fly with no downtime. The quick-change ink cartridge allows users to keep their line running, reducing downtime and maximizing ROI. Overall, an inkjet printer provides a cost-effective solution for making your mark on various products and substrates.

    11. CODING WITH INVISIBLE INK

      CODING WITH INVISIBLE INK

Invisible ink coding in the field of industrial marking is often used for traceability or security applications that want to remain hidden from the eyes of the end consumer. It is important to remember that this ink becomes visible under ultraviolet light, so it is very easy to carry out security checks during the production process. Once the packer fills the container, a second marking is carried out with information such as the batch number of the soft drink or its expiration date. Data of paramount value to the final consumer, which is why it is done with standard black ink. In this way, the internal traceability information only useful for the manufacturer is hidden, preventing the final consumer from confusing both information. Another common use of invisible ink is in the high-end cosmetics industry. In a sector where counterfeit products are one of the main problems, invisible markings are an important defensive tool for manufacturers. The most typical application is the marking of product packaging with security codes. This allows distribution chains (perfumeries, pharmacies...) to verify the origin and authenticity of the goods. And to the large luxury manufacturers to be able to carry out an exhaustive traceability of the route of their products. In this case, and due to the special characteristics of the cosmetic sector, the marking is done with invisible ink to preserve the aesthetics of the product and not dirty the pack with information of no interest to the consumer. The third common application with invisible ink is in the graphic arts sector. It is mainly used to print security codes on official documentation, tickets or promotional coupons. In this case, invisible ink is used as an anti-forgery tool and is an important additional security measure for document verification.

Convenience at its best: Naylors’ ready-to-enjoy coleslaw in reclosable Schur®Star Stand-up bag

Due to the rich texture of salads, sealing of the filled bag can be an issue as product residues tend to stick to the bag opening. The Schur®Star Packaging Machine offers a rectangular fill opening measuring the full bag width specifically designed to ease the packing of products that are difficult to handle. By taking advantage of the long filling line Naylor Farms have employed double filling. The results: No more product clinging to the bag opening, no more sealing issues and no more costly downtime. Packing speed and overall production capacity have been improved considerably without increasing labour. The ready-to-enjoy salads are sold in a stand-up bag construction that ensures the product full attention at POS equipped with a window allowing a glimpse of the contents. To complete the concept of high convenience, the bag is manufactured with a practical laser-score for easy opening and a reclosability feature for convenient storage of any salad that is not consumed initially.
